Anybody did the BSN (Pre Licensure) program at WGU?

So I need some help. I want to go to the BSN program here. I would be getting my BSN aswell as my RN license . Did anybody here did this program? How was it? What should I expect? Could I still work at a CNA 3 12 hour shifts?

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

First of all, are you aware that the pre-licensure program is only offered in five states?

Yes. I would be doing the So Cal one. I just want people's experiences as they do the pre lincensure program or what their experiences were like. Coursework, exam, clinical and lab theory.

I'm full time cna and full time student and I do fine because I work ahead

I finished the WGU prelicensure program in California in March 2016. I thought the program was convenient. I also am a LVN already, so some things were review for me. I did work at the same time I was in the program, but my work was somewhat flexible. You do get your full 2 1/2 year schedule at the beginning. So you will know which weekends you will have to come to lab and which weeks you will have clinical. However, of course the schedule can change and clinical days can change and go beyond the weeks that they had given you, since you are following a certain nurse and their schedule is unknown. A lot of my classmates worked the first year and half. The last 6 months was a little more difficult because that is when your preceptorship is and certain classes were harder. Regarding classwork- do it as soon as possible, don't wait until the last minute. The papers are easy if you just follow the guidelines of how they grade it. ATI-pay attention through the years and each subject, in the end their is a comprehensive ATI test that you must pass to finish up the program.
