Any Vandy Applicants out there?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone, I applied to 's PNP program, yet have not heard back yet. I received a letter about financial aid though. Has anyone else heard back from Vandy? Anyone going to the open house on March 1st? Is anyone currently in the program and can give some insight about the program? Thanks so much:)

I applied to the NNP program and just got my letter today. When I called admissions back in February, they said it might be through the middle of March before everyone got their letters. I am not sure if the PNP program is the same as NNP, though. Hope this helps and good luck!

Awesome... Thanks so much for your help. When did you apply? I applied late I didn't turn in my application until the beginning of February as I just heard about their program. How long have you been a nurse? Are you applying with an ADN or a BSN? Thanks so much for all your help:)

This is my first time using this site but I have been looking for other applicants and wondering if yall had heard anything specifically about the program in terms of clinical experience or anything else? A lot of the older posts I read were negative about lack of experience for vandy grads but I've been wondering if things have changed. I'm considering vandy and UT for psych mental health

Hi, I know a couple of people have said negative things about the program at . I can't speak for everyone but we have a nurse practitioner working in our ER that just graduated from Vandy and is wonderful. She said she felt very well prepared and really liked Vandy's program. I am not sure how students would do though if they had no RN experience first. This NP had quite a few years of RN experience before she graduated from NP school. Hope this helps:nurse:

I worked with a direct-entry NP graduate of Vanderbilt. She is one of the most intelligent, on-top-of-it, motivated people I know. I would have her as my healthcare provider in a heartbeat. She felt as though she received a great education, and I trust her judgment.

Regardless, education is what you make of it. You could party and goof off at any "great school" and still be a dimwit, or you could work your butt off and take the opportunities you're presented with and be the best you can in your field. Ultimately, education comes down to a personal decision. My .02. :twocents:

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for replying...it just helps to hear what other people's insights and experiences are, you know? I really appreciate it :) That's kind of how I figured it would be as far as your education is what you make of it!

I'm currently enrolled in the RODP through ETSU for FNP (love it) but am thinking about switching to mental health, also through UT or . If you're interested, let's stay in touch and share info. And good luck!
