I have a friend who works there that feels exactly the same way! He almost quit because he felt that the employees cared about the paycheck, not the patients. But he's sticking it out, and doing the best that he can for his patients. As for the CNAs, when he's the charge nurse, he'll send their butts home if they're not doing their job. He told me that they don't shouldn't be getting paid to sit there if they're not doing any work!!

whats up with the va hospital? i just cant understand some of the things that go on there, and are allowed to.
its like any and everyone with a bad attitude works there and its ok. most of the nurses are terrible when it comes to taking care of the patients, emotionally and all and plz dont get me started on the nursing assistants! esp since its said that they have more power than any of the nurses, and some make more than some rns! and they do absolutely nothing!!!
has anyone else had this experience? if so how do you cope without being sucked into "the va way"? and coming out with a terrible attitude, and "i dont care" mentality?
its hard to find decent work as an lvn without working in ltc, so hence why im still there. i just want to work in the hospital setting as a lvn, or anything other than ltc but there has got to be a better way!
