Any VA/Gov nurses?

Published

Any tips/advice on how to apply for positions and make sure resume is correct? The VA/Gov application process is very intimidating and it's possible I'm making it harder than it is but their reputation isn't great for the hiring process. I'm doing all the online research I can but would appreciate first-hand advice.

Read the job positing and pull direct wording from that for your resume to showcase your abilities/experience. You can also pull the HR contact from the job posting and send your resume. Our HR often sends us resumes from people who are interested but may not see a specific job they're looking for. I am a current nurse manager at the VA. Make sure your resume is detailed! The process is long though, unfortunately.

I have never heard of RSA. Each VA is quite different though, so their HR process may have steps ours does not. When I hire, I make my selection & HR takes over from there until orientation begins.

Uts recruitment servive agreement thing.. thats what my HR told me. She even tild I coyld email the hiring manager to ask since they are the one initiating the form. But thank you for your reply..

Use the key words they use in the job posting, plug those into your resume. And the gov really like you to clearly write what your responsibilities were at each job. Where you an ICU nurse? Give them like 3 to 4 bullets of what your major roles in ICU were, and so on. Did you do charge, a process improvement, did you mentor, put that all into the resume. The gov loves details!
