If you are a current student or an alumni, please share your experiences with the program.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for responding.. A couple more things.. Did you have to get a specific uniform to wear to class? I see on their website that everyone is wearing the same thing but I don't know if that's the Accelerated class or not.

So far so good.. Thanks

Domini:

Really appreciate you sharing your experiences with us. I wish you all the best during orientation and that you become confident working with patients on your own. We all start somewhere.

Bus to Health:

Have you gone to one of their Information Sessions yet? If not, I would advise you to go, they are real helpful. I believe you wear a uniform because the Director had said the cost includes the uniform. I wish you all the best as well at UMDNJ.

Hi-

I am actually going to one this Thursday.. Can't wait to get more info... Best of luck to you too..

Hey again!

Glad I could help you guys. Actually, we only had to wear uniforms during our clinical rotations. During lecture you could wear whatever you want.

Definitly go to info sessions. They help. Write down all the questions you have and as you are getting the answers you could check off that you got the answer to that question. Some people may have the same exact question as you, so listen carefully.

Also, during info session someone will ask the question "will I be able to work while I am in school?" They highly suggest that you don't, esp. a full time position, but if you pick up hours here and there I think it is not a bad idea, that is if you could handel it.

Hope it helps.

Have they ever accepted anyone with a GPA under 3.0?

I went to an Information Session last year in Newark and the Director explicitly stated that they will NOT accept GPAs lower than 3.0 (even if your GPA is a 2.99999). No exceptions.

If anyone else can chime in with any testimonies or different info given about that, but as far as I know you must have at least a 3.0.

I had to dig through to find my Information package. The person running the Information Session is Mae, who is the Coordinator of Student Nurse Recruitment. You can privately email me for her office number and email. I don't want to post that info in here openly. I would also advise you to go to one of their Information Sessions. You get all your questions answered in there.

Good luck to you too...At this point, not applying to a Nursing School based on one irritable conversation with someone from their office is not the way to go IMO.

Hey! Well since my last post many things changed. I recently got offered a medical telemetry position in NYC, working per diem in a surgical unit in NJ, still doing home care prn, and swine flu clinics seasonal. I love my job. It is great because you only work 3 days a week, make pretty good money, and since you are doing what you like you dont even feel that you are working that hard! It is great bing a nurse. Of coorifice you will have your days where you ask yourself "am I really cut out to m an RN?" However I guess with more experience it will get better!

In terms of UMDNJ Stratford or Newark, look at my long long post above and hopefully that will guide ya.

Best Wishes!

Thank you for your post DominiRN09. Glad you landed a job and you're enjoying it. I'm almost done with my prereqs and getting excited this part is almost over. I can't wait to become a nurse.
