Any tips for UNE organic chem final?

I'm hoping someone here has some advice they might be able to share with me. I'm planning on applying to school in the fall. Unfortunately, my sciences are now over 10 years old so I decided to do UNE's online organic chemistry class. I've never had much trouble with chemistry before so I thought it would be fine. I was wrong. I am having such a difficult time in this course. I feel like it's too abstract for my brain (I do much better when I'm able to visualize). At the rate I am going, I'll end up with a C in the course. I've been doing well on the labs, but averaging Cs on the quizzes. I only have 4 more weeks to go, and I know the final counts for most of the grade. I feel like a lot of the quiz questions are coming out of left field. I can't find the answers in the book or in his lecture. The prof has been very helpful when I've emailed him after the quizzes, but that's obviously a little too late. I really want to try to pull my grade up on the final. I would be so grateful to anyone who took this course who can give me some tips. Thank you so much.

Has anyone taken the final recently? How much was the curve?

has anyone register for UNE organic chem 1 that starts on october 7? seems they change all the material and i want to know what should i buy please pm me if u have any info

Has anyone had to retake the final? Is it harder the second time or similar to the first version? I'm so nervous that I haven't prepared enough and i'm going to do poorly again...

I just took this final recently, so I can gave out you some input. First, I would recommend that you look into brightideatutoring.com. I know it was mentioned before, but Janci has done a great job with her videos that really allow you to see why the answer choices don't work and really gives you the knowledge to get the right answer and understand why. She's also has resources available and is willing to tutor you which I did not take advantage of but it is there if you need it. She also has videos up for the new ochem with the midterm and final as well. I took the old final (before 2015), so this pertains to that.

*Note: her resources and videos are expensive, but they are worth every penny. I didn't even bother to read the book for this class after I stumbled onto her site. I have the materials but to be fair to Janci, I won't be selling them. However, I do have my old quizzes and some previous old quizzes or google sk793 on coursehero.

For the final: I took the 4 hours. Most of the questions involved chirality, DNA, carbohydrates, lipids (triglycerides), reduction of alcohols, free radicals steps, and nitro/benzene reactions. The format is similar to your quizzes and a good number of questions were from old quizzes. (If you'd like Janci also offered a test bank with tons of old questions for 380- super pricey in my opinion, but there's a good chance half of the final is on there with all those questions.)

If you were tutored by her or even put some solid effort into the class and understood the material, you should be fine. There wasn't anything on there that was new or unusual. Like I said, I spent most of the 4 hours, but that included searching through my module quizzes and notes, and rechecking every answer.

hi [COLOR=#666666]shamrockshan thanks for your feedback and informations, its a big help ,it is good that at least part of the questions are from quizes... it just took me quite time to read the book and listen to the power points do all mastering tuterals homeworks and then the boook homework ...did you do all the mastering homeowrk, book examples and homeworks for the final and before the quizez? ido they have questions from the mastering or the test questions after each chapters?>do you have lab quizes answers ? would you be willing to share them with me i want to check mine before submiting them would appreciate if you can contact alenooshmatyahoo thanks [/COLOR]
