i just found this that i made in nursing school.....i am takin nclex in 2 days and freaking out but maybe this will help/ mnemonics could be made from some of this info.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVES

PRIL

  • Ace Inhibitors
  • Skin rash, cough
  • Acute renal failure, in bed 3 hrs after 1st dose

SARTAN

  • ARBS
  • Hypotension
  • Fatigue, hepatitis, renal failure
  • LFTs and electrolytes

OlOLS/AOLS/IOLS

  • Beta Blockers- decrease cardiac output and cardiac oxygen consumption, depresses rennin secretion
  • SOB, Gi distress
  • Impotence
  • Depression, insomnia, bradycardia, headache

DIPINES

  • Ca+ Channel Blockers
  • Avoid high fat meals and grapefruit juice
  • Take 1hr before meals or 2 hrs after meals
  • No caffeine
  • Tachycardia, HF, dry cough
  • Edema, constipation, dizziness, nausea, headaches
  • Check K+ levels

Antiarrhythmics- Atropine (V fib/ asystole), Amiodarone, Digoxin (HF), Lidocaise (V dys), propanolol, verapamil, phenytoin, quinidine

Arrhythmia- disturbance in HR or rhythem (K+, Ca+, Mg+)

ANTI-ANGINALS- Nitroglycerin, Isorbid, Propanolol, Atenolol, Nadolol, Dilitiazem (Cardizem)

Angina- chest discomfort or pain form MI, not enough 02

NITRATES

  • vasodilator, headache, flushing
  • dizziness, nausea, hypotension
  • replace tabs every 3-5 months

OLOLS

  • HF, SOB
  • Impotence, hallucinations/ insomnia
  • Bradycardia, depression, loss of appetite
  • Blurred vision

DIPINES

  • hypokalemia, HF, syncope
  • dizziness, dysrhythmias, hypotension
  • peripheral edema

ANTILIPEMIC

  • HMG Coa Reductase Inhibitors
