Hello all! I'm so excited at the prospect of starting an RN program, but am hitting the wall finding a program in California that is affiliated with, or offers childcare options for my children (ages 2 and 5, single mom)- I'll move ANYWHERE in California, the programs near my home (in San Diego) (and near family who would be able to help me with my kids) are backed up with 2-3 year waiting lists... You guys are AWESOME I've read these boards for months and laughed and cried at your posts, any advice about certain campuses, or any advice on how to get through nursing school as a single mom would be so appreciated- thank you thank you thank you!!!

Do you happen to be low income? Reason I ask is, my sister is just getting done finishing up her degree (not in nursing) and she is considered low income because all she gets is her GI bill every month. So she was eligible for assistance for daycare, and I think she ends up paying $100/month for fulltime childcare for her 4 year old daughter. If you fall into a certain income bracket, you might be eligible too.

Hey...too bad ya didn't say that you were lookin for a school in FL, as my CC has a daycare on site. And you did say you would move anywhere (just in Ca though...lol ;) )Anyway I too have children (3 of them) and I agree with what Phoenix said above, that is call around and see what you can find out. Here in Florida the program is ChildHood Development Services (CDS) that has help with childcare funding. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!!!! :)
