browntrout 3 Posts Jun 19, 2005 I am in private practice part time. It's a great setup, but insurance companies are so diffucult to deal with. Having a hard time getting on all the panels. It's alot easier to work for a clinic or hospital where the entire clinic is credentialed with the company and the NP does not have to be individually credentialed.
spaniel 180 Posts Jun 20, 2005 There are people who strictly work as "credentialers". They seem to know some of the ropes to get into the panels. One idea is to call a big practice and see if the crdentialer will work with you on a bit of a fee for service basis.I think going independent as a psych NP is the way to go.. I hope more and more do this.

spaniel 180 Posts Jun 29, 2005 Hmm- I should have been clearer. Many of the big medical practices hire clerks (secretaries) who have learned the ropes of credentialing. Some medical secretaries are good at this.Also- do you know of a medical assistant program near you- perhaps they'd be of assistance.
