Hey All,

Lord willing I will be graduating in May, the 16th to be exact. Just curious if anyone else is nervous about the HESI exit exam. We will be taking ours in April. We need an 850 to pass. If we don't pass the first time we have to wait a month to take it a second time. We only have two chances. If we don't pass the first time that means no preceptorship and no graduation in May. How is everyone else dealing with this and how do you plan to study for the HESI? Also how have you done on end of semester HESI?

I plan on using the NCLEX 4000 software as well as the HESI cd. Have done some questions during the break. Harder than I thought it would be. I have passed 3 out of the 5 Hesi's that we have already taken.

Hey,

I just took my HESI exit exam on January 24th and scored a 1050!! (My school required a 900 to pass) I've been reading the HESI threads for a couple of months to get advice and I said to myself that when I pass I will tell others what I did. I only had Christmas break to study, so yes, I was extremely nervous. But once I started the test I was able to relax. I knew that in order to pass I had to calm down, trust God, trust myself, and focus. I studied the HESI book (read book twice), did horribly on all the tests on the CD except one (92 or 93), watched the Hurst review videos (only had time to do them once), and I did questions from Saunders and NCLEX 4000. My scores ranged from 61-83 when doing about 100-150 questions at a time. I prefer NCLEX 4000. After taking the test, I do not feel that it truly measures your knowledge, because maybe 5% of what I studied was on the test. Know your math, prioritizing, and delegation type senarios. Keep practicing questions (200-300/day) if you can. Answering questions and reading rationales will help a lot on the prioritizing and delegation. I really hope this helps someone.:wink2:

Yes. Sounds exactly like our situation. You in Texas, by chance?

I didn't study for it... I actually forgot about it until the day before the test (oops), so I did some NCLEX practice CDs the night before, took it and got an 1100... I thought it was easy/basic, stuff that everyone should really know by the end of the nursing program.

You'll do fine, don't stress about it...!
