Any nursing students currently attending NYU

I was wondering if there are any current NYU accelerated nursing students who could give me an idea of how demanding and how good the program is. I am still debating between the Seton Hall and NYU accelerated. I don't know which to choose!

Hi!

Maybe I can help! I'm currently doing NYU 15 months accelerated program. What question do you have?

Oh wow, how is the program and clinicals going for you? Is it hard to juggle the many clinicals and classes while maintaining a 3.0? I am still wondering if going to NYU is really worth the money or if it is just all in the name. Also how far away are the clinicals. I am from the Northwest and just imagining not driving is hard.

Hi,

Currently I just finished my second semester. I think the first semester is the hardest so far b/c you just don't know what to expect. Good thing, you only have to take one clinical during your first semester which is not too hard. I don't think it's very difficult to maintain 3.0 gpa but you definitely have to work very hard and put almost your entire time into your studies. I don't want to scare you but basically you will not have any free time and the most difficult time is during midterm and final b/c they all comes at the same time. As for clinical sites, it varies but all are reachable by subway and bus.

I hope I answer your questions!

Good luck with your decision

I was thinking of going there next year for the accelerated program. So one would have to maintain a 3.0 in the program to pass.

Thanks for the info Sammi15. I just worry that being in a new city by myself, I'll be overwhelmed and add to the fact that it's been a couple of years since I took bio classes. I hope that its not to hard to maintain the passing 3.0. If you don't mind, what classes would you say are the most challenging?

A major portion of my classmates are not from New York City so you're not alone. For some reason, the nursing students are very supportive of each other and you will easily find friends. I think as long as you study and put your time and effort into doing your work, maintaining 3.0 is not a problem. So far, I think the hardest class is pathophysiology (NYU refers as Altered Health Patters) b/c the instructor is horrible. For that reason, you must know your A&P I + II very well.

Good luck!

Its great to know that I won't be the only one. Yea I figured pathophysiology would be the hardest. Could I ask how the clinical instructors are. Also are the classes small?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

So far, all my clinical instructors are pretty good but some can be tough. They get really tough if you cannot answer their questions, then again a lot of clinical instructors are like that. Lecture size range from 120-150 students (big class) but it works out very well each semester. Lab size range from 20-25 students (more personal interaction with instructor). Clinical size range from 5-8 students.
