I currently volunteer as an RN at a community clinic. I juggled multiple tasks at once. Some of these tasks include: performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, assess and triage walk-in/ appt based patients, performing in-take/vital signs, administering vaccinations/immunizations, and assisting providers with other tasks and procedures. I also encounter a very diverse pt population including: tourists, non-English speakers, opioid addicted, homeless, pts with coexisting diseases/conditions, mentally ill, teens, adults, elderly, and LGBT patients. Since it IS a community clinic, sometimes the waits are long and patients can get angry and violent. So, you need to learn how to handle situations where there may be unruly patients. That's all I can think of on the top of my head. Hope that helps!
Huh...you volunteer. That is cool, I didn't know they let you do that with malpractice insurance and such. Are you covered by your personal policy or do they cover you too?

I am going to start a new job and just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what to expect. I know it will be very busy with a diverse population which I actually look foward too!
