Any Mercy School of Nursing Spring 2015 Prospective Applicants

Published

Hi peeps,

I've recently made up my mind to do a 360 career change. I've decided to go back to school for nursing. The more I think about it the more excite I get. I'm planning to apply to Mercy School of Nursing evening/weekend program for Spring 2015. I know you all are probably thinking that's far away but I have to get all of my prerequisite classes before then. I will be taking a continuing education course called Exploring Medical Language this August to start off but mainly to wait until I am considered an in state student at the community college here in Charlotte since I just moved back to North Carolina from Arkansas a little over 10 months ago. I will then complete A&P I&II and microbiology at the community college and complete the CLEP for Sociology and Developmental Psychology. I will also be taking the TEAS test in January.

I have a non-nursing degree and graduated with a 3.6.

I said all that to ask this....any other prospective applicants for Spring 2015 for Mercy School of Nursing that will also be taking these prerequisites throughout the next year to fulfill the admissions requirements. Also, any comments or suggestions from current Mercy School of Nursing students or applicants are highly encouraged as I am new to this world. :-)

Thanks in advance!!

Tyallen,

I am a Fall 2013 student (daytime). We have orientation/CPR class this week and school starts next week. I must have stalked Allnurses.com when applying for Mercy's nursing program. I was told by a friend that the night program consists of classes at night and clinicals on weekends. I also have heard that the night/weekend program is more competitive than the day. The orientation given by Mercy for students applying is very helpful. You can find orientation dates on their website. Mercy really focuses on your Teas science and math scores. They also look at your Grades of pre-reqs and co-reqs. When studying for the Teas, purchase the online tests A &B (can only take each 2x). For me, there was some similar questions on the exam that was on the online practice. Also register to take the exam at Mercy as they give it in paper form and not computer. Just be aware that the test is timed and time does fly in that room! I have no clue how many points I had in getting in.

Here is what my credentials are:

GPA 4.0 Honor Society

A&P 1 + Lab 4.0

A&P 2 + Lab 4.0

Micro + Lab 4.0

Sociology 4.0

Physiology 4.0

Devel Phys 4.0

Chemistry 4.0

Nutrition 4.0

English 3.0

I have more classes taken, but they wouldn't pertain to a nursing program.

Teas overall 80.0

Science - 98th percentile nationally

Math, Grammar, & English was above average

Hope this helps!

Correction: I got a 78 (advanced) as my total adjusted score on the Teas exam.

Thank you for this information!!! God luck with the start of the program!!

Hello Ty: I am also hoping to enroll in the night/weekend plan beginning Spring 2015. I'm also doing a very 360 type career change. I am in my late 40s and tired of sitting at a desk :)

I'm taking the pre-enrollment classes at CPCC (mostly online or Levine campus). I haven't decided if I will take the Psych class in summer school or try to CLEP. I am hoping to take the TEAS on 12/20 at MSON. I have a gmail account using the same ID I use here if you'd like to email me.

Hi Tyallen,

I was wondering where you were at in this journey? Are you still applying to Mercy for Jan 2015 matriculation?

Are you all still applying for the 2015 program?

Hi taylorkathleen...I applied last week. Fingers crossed and praying! How about you?

yes! I applied last week as well. Still working through some pre-reqs and retaking the TEAS test on Friday in hopes of a higher overall score.

I am also applying for the spring 2015 evening...

I've applied as well. Good luck to us!
