ADN program at South Piedmont Community College (SPCC) in Monroe, NC.
I'm preparing my application to the ADN program at South Piedmont Community College (SPCC) in Monroe, NC. I have looked and looked and haven't seen a lot of discussion, here or elsewhere, about this program. I'd like to see what people think about the school, the program, the faculty/staff, the clinical sites, etc. It's a smaller program than some of the area schools, so I think that's part of the reason for a lack of discussion. But please let me know what you know (or might have heard) about it. Thanks!

Any Mercy School of Nursing Spring 2015 Prospective Applicants
It looks like Gaston College has a Practical Nursing diploma program...but it's on the campus all the way up in Lincolnton. And you'd still have to do an LPN to RN bridge after getting that diploma. If you want to email some people at Carolinas Healthcare to try to get them to change their minds, contact me. Gmail address is the same as my id here.

Any Mercy School of Nursing Spring 2015 Prospective Applicants
Very sad...I'm just hoping one of the other schools will pickup the night/weekend program. I have to work full time while I'm going to school... Does anyone know of any other night options for nursing school in the area?

Mercy School of Nursing Charlotte
Percentile on the TEAS score? I'm not sure but I assumemed it had something to do with a ranking (national...regional?).

Any Mercy School of Nursing Spring 2015 Prospective Applicants
I sort of remember them saying something about this in the information session I attended, but that was well over a year ago so I do not remember. I would think if you called and asked they wouldn't mind answering the question...they always seem very friendly!

Good luck with your application! I made an 80 on the TEAS...I'm wondering now if I should have taken it again.

Any Mercy School of Nursing Spring 2015 Prospective Applicants
Hello Ty: I am also hoping to enroll in the night/weekend plan beginning Spring 2015. I'm also doing a very 360 type career change. I am in my late 40s and tired of sitting at a desk :) I'm taking the pre-enrollment classes at CPCC (mostly online or Levine campus). I haven't decided if I will take the Psych class in summer school or try to CLEP. I am hoping to take the TEAS on 12/20 at MSON. I have a gmail account using the same ID I use here if you'd like to email me.

Advice for a potential second career male nurse?
I'm in a similar situation. I'm changing careers (or hope to) from 25 years of IT to nursing. At the moment I'm taking my first Anatomy and Physiology class and loving it. Working my butt off, but loving it. Hopefully I will start nursing school in a little over a year. Most nursing schools (at least in the Charlotte, NC area) require you to be on the state's Nurse Aide registry. After looking into what a Nurse Aide can and can't do, I decided to take this class before making any other plans towards nursing school. I figured if I liked what I did in the Nurse Aide class, chances are I will like nursing. That might be a good option for you, as well. By the way, I liked it enough to keep going! I'm also more of an introverted person, and at first it worried me that my personality might not work in nursing. But during clinicals for the Nurse Aide course I found that some patients need a more introverted person around them, just as some will need a more extroverted person. I think there is a place for all personality types here. I'm glad someone else pointed out that the Affordable Care Act, which is not yet fully implemented, seems to be getting blamed for things that date back for years in that one comment. I detect a lot of bitterness from some of these comments. I think we can look into any career area and find bitterness. Don't let bitter comments, from people who may have been in the field for too long, affect your decision. After doing more research, you will know what to do.

Flashcards
I am also hoping to take the TEAS soon (December) and have been preparing. High school was a loooong time ago for me, so I'm perhaps more worried than others might be! I do have the Mometrix study guide (a neighbor gave it to me) but am planning to do the ATI practice tests and study guide bundle. I was just looking into the flash cards and also wondering if they are worth having...which is how I found this post. Any comments from anyone?
