I just enrolled in med-surg and I am scared to death! We have been told (from people before us) that it is the hardest semester in the nursing program. So I was just wondering if there were any students that have taken med surg? We were told we would have between 3-5 patients and I thought I was going to lose my mind when I was given 3 patients for fundamentals! So any advice would be great!
Thanks!!

I start Med Surge next semester and I am excited and scared as well. A few friends and I plan on printing out this semesters syllabus and trying to learn it over winter break so that we go in really prepared when we start in Jan. That way we aren't trying to stay afloat in class. I am hoping this works because I have a feeling this will be a class I really struggle with.

Med Surg is where you really become a nurse....you'll learn to prioritize and develop your time-management skills....just take each day one at a time and you'll do fine

i am a week away from finishing advanced medsurge... it isnt that bad!!! At my school we dont have a lot of pt load, since the patients that we see on the cardiac unit or the PCU are a bit more critical, we only get 1 or 2 pt.... and they keep us busy, but then again, it is not a regular medsurge floor.
we will go to a regular medsurge floor in january and february, for leadership clinicals, and that is when we get the big pt load!
but again, med surge is easy if you are willing to learn, and devoting time to it
