I'm at my witts end trying to find a job around here. Anyone know how bad the pay difference is? I'm close to the border, I think I might try to get a job up there.
DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!:angryfire
I don't care if you live 1 mile from the border, if you ever got laid off you will get NOTHING!!!!!!
I am from mass, and was working as a designer in NH and making GREAT money, (before going to nursing school in mass), anyways, I was laid off last thanksgiving that is when I starting nursing school, I recieved $242.00 a week from unemployment, they are horrible!!!!! I will never work NH again, and advise anyone if you live in mass dont do it.
They don't even cover you for dependents, Mass does.
So please don't for your on sake.
I live in Mass and started out at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH, which is an HCA hospital...Portsmouth is also an HCA hospital and pays about the same...I started out at $23.22/hour with a $5/hr overnight differential and $2/hr evening differential...that included 1 year of experience. New grads start at 22.80. Exeter starts off at 19 and change/hour.
I moved to CT for work. I lived on the MA/NH border (seacoast area) and spent a year looking from Boston to Lowell/Chelmsford, up to Derry and Portsmouth for work.
I'm single and unattached so a move was no big deal for me, but CT was my only hope in finding new nursing work. Pay is a bit better too, but cost of living is more, IMO.
