Since I am leaving, my current school has posted my job and the first applicant is an LPN. The Asst. Superintendent said "Nope, RN only"
I will confess that I don't really know the specifics about the differences. Can anyone shed any light about why an LPN would not be able to do the school nurse position?

I'm an LPN working as a school nurse for 2 years now. I will admit when I first started I felt unqualified (especially with regards to assessments and some of the decision making required) but after a couple of relevant in person and online CEUs, lot's of research on my local protocol and laws etc, and hands on experience I fulfill my duties with confidence now. My state (Florida) doesn't require RN license for the position but I know the district I work in only hires RNs (I work for a charter school so I'm hired by the school not the district).
