Any other ITT nursing students worried?

Published

I have been at ITT Technical Institute Indianapolis for a year. Recently I learned that the Program chair quit, she was fed up with the policies and lack of support from the Dean and higher ups. Classes start back up on Monday and I have heard that there are many faculty that quit after the Chair left. Has anyone else heard if we are going to have classes or not??

I can't imagine that one person quitting (even in such a central position) could ruin an established program. I mean, I hope it's established-as in, if it's to fizzle this easily, better to know now rather than later so that have a chance to complete education elsewhere. How stressful! Let us know how it goes.

Well, I sure hope we have class on Monday. I just got accepted into the program! Does it seem like it is a pretty solid program?

I know that ITT programs are throughout the country. I'm in Ohio, and there's one here.

I'm about to graduate from a LPN program in a few weeks. I spent about a month doing some intensive research about programs when I applied. I attended orientations for all of them in my area. The one thing that I found important, and now find ESSENTIAL, is that the courses you take to transfer to other colleges, and that the school be accredited. I learned that those schools that I found difficulty in finding or giving information were the ones that didn't have the qualifications. These schools often were the ones that charged outrageous fees, too.

Don't let the concept that you have no wait list be the determiner of your school. I waited a semester to get into a community college that charges $5K for the entire program, yet all courses transfer to other schools. I could have gotten right into an $18K private school, but I considered how much I'd earn in 6 months as a LPN, plus that I'd have to retake all those courses (though my LPN would transfer to bridge programs) for a RN program, and it made sense to wait.

If there were no other schools open to attend, I'd have gone to the private one, with at least my LPN. But, do your research about the school you are attending. This is the time you have control. I wish I had more advice for you about your particular school, as it sounds like the situation is frustrating. But, before handing over thousands, I'd even wait until the next class start before I'd sign up with a class that you aren't sure is accedited and "together". I can't imagine a good start with the kind of unraveling that's going on in the program, and LPN school is tough enough. I'd definitely get something in writing from the school, or demand information, etc.. You have that right. Hopefully it's a great and well-established program, but unfortunately we can't always count on it, and so must get the facts.

Well, classes started December 1 and all seems OK. I am happy to say. The classes are covered, and they have an Interim Chair. So it looks like I worried for nothing. Thanks for all the replies and the support!:yeah:

Relax. This is an established school. Every RN program has its growing pains.
