Any interview tips for a soon to be rn?

Published

HI I was wondering for any new grads out there who have interviewed for new grad jobs what type of questions did you get asked during your interviews?????

thanks:lol2:

I'm just a student myself, but these were some of the questions asked at my interview.

  • Tell me about yourself

  • Give me one instance when you went above and beyond to show respect to a fellow co-worker, student or a patient.

  • Let's say that you are doing a certain treatment/intervention and you keep getting substandard results. Tell me how you would rectify the situation.

  • If you are in a supervisory role how do you decide which tasks get delegated to whom?

  • Tell me how you would react if another nurse observed you doing a treament/intervention (I believe it was a dressing change) and came to you afterward and told you you were doing it incorrectly?

  • How do you accept praise/awards?

last but not least............

When can you start?

Some type of questions I was asked during my interview:

Tell me about a difficult situation you had with a patient on clinicals and what you did to work to improve the situation?

What do you do when you have multiple patients that need things at the same time - how do you prioritize your care?

What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

Where do you want to be in 5 years?

Give me an example of how you exemplified critical thinking.

That kind of stuff.

Hi, I graduated this past May. Aside from questions about yourself, and why you would be a good candidate for the job, most hospitals want to know that you can adapt. They might ask you something along the lines of: Tell me a situation in clinical that you did not like, and what did you do about it?

Always, always end an interview with a question! Do a little research about the facility you are applying, and have some questions ready. Make sure to have more than one question, just in case your question gets answered during the interview.

Good Luck!

my interviewer asked me things like, " what are the three most important things you can do for your patient"

best of luck with your interviews
