Any interview tips for a patient sitter/attendant position?

Published

I went in for a patient sitting position a few days ago. I have no experience in a health field, and I wanted to get this job so that I can gain experience in direct patient care although i won't be doing anything hands-on. I'm starting nursing school this month and thought it would be a good idea. I did horrible on the interview, stuttered a lot, and went blank for a few seconds too. the lady said she was only a screener and said she would consider me and pass my information onto the nurse where she will do the actual interview.

I got a call saying to come in to meet with the nurse for an interview. i am so nervous. i am reserved too so i tend to freeze up easily. can anyone tell me some good tips for interview? like questions/answers they may ask/want?

Let me move this to the general nursing forum where you will get more answers.

Good luck at your interview.

I worked as a CNA while I went to school. I can tell you that the interviewer is not looking for someone who is a medical genius - rather, they need someone who will work within their scope of practice SAFELY. They want to know you will defer to someone with more expertise when you see a change in the patient's condition. They may ask you what you will do if you enter the patient's room and find them on the floor - of course, you will call for help, try to see if they are breathing or in distress, bleeding, etc. They will not want you to diagnose illnesses, or take it upon yourself to move an injured patient. Common sense stuff. You will do fine!
