Hi all,

I have just begun an Access course (Certificate in foundation studies - Health and Welfare) and hope to go to my local university next year to study mental Health nursing.

Problem - When my child was born a few years ago i suffered severe post natal depression and was admitted as an inpatient to a psych ward. I was put on effexor 225mg and also chlorpromazine as i began to self harm. I also developed OCD regarding germs and was referred to a Cognative Behavioural Therapist last year (I am still waiting on an appointment for an assessment)!!!lol

I am now off all my medication and am feeling better than i have ever felt - hence the new course and getting myself back out into the world - but i have not seen my consultant in about 6 months (since coming off meds) and have not been discharged from his caseload. I am quite worried that this will have an impact on my university application. If i was able to get discharged from any psych services - would my previous history have an impact on whether i get a place to study???

I woud be very grateful for any thoughts/advice on this matter
