Any HRSA 2015 Applicants?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello nurses. I completed my associates degree in 2012 and just completed my BSN in December. I have decided to apply for the HRSA nursing loan repayment program this year in hopes that I will qualify and at least be considered in their awards. A fellow co-worker was awarded two years ago while working at the same hospital that I work at, so I decided it wouldn't hurt to try! I have started my application, but I am still waiting for my official diploma and/or transcripts from my BSN to prove completion of the program before I can move forward past the verification of schools and degrees portion of the application. I have done a lot of research and it seems to be a pretty lengthy application, but if awarded it will definitely be worth it. Anyone started the process or have any suggestions for those of us who are applying this year? Thank you fellow nurses!

I copied/pasted this from a previous thread I responded to.

I'm kind of scratching my head here... I'm an BSN RN with a 207% DTI, I work at a non-profit DHS hospital, and my hrsa score is 16 for mental health. All these put me in tier one... I do not have a credit check from HRSA/Credco on any bureau or credit karma... I don't know what to say.

I am a nurse educator at a tier 1 community college (there are only two tiers for colleges). I just got my finalist email today. I am in shock and so excited. It was a big cut in pay to go follow my dream to become a nurse educator at a college so if I do indeed receive the loan repayment, this will help my family in many ways. I wish you all the best of luck and hope that you receive awards soon.

I applied this year - have yet to hear anything. I am an RN working at a Tier 1 facility. My debt to income ratio is "only" 120% which is not much compared with many I've seen here, but sure feels like an awful lot!

I just checked my credit report and have "Credco" listed on March 26th.

They have till end of September? Do they notify those applicants who aren't chosen?

This is a long awful wait, especially for those of us who might be otherwise moving to other jobs.

Good luck everyone! Hope we start to hear back soon

I got my finalist email today!!! I honestly had stopped checking so often bc I figured there wasn't much chance left of any funds being left...big time prayer answered!!!! Good luck to anyone who hasn't heard yet! Also, make sure to check your actual portal too. I never got the first finalist email I got one that was entitled a reminder to reply!

Jillian - how how was the portal changed after you got the finalist email?

Charlie, Instead of the status saying under review it now says finalist for award.

I doubt this is really how they do it, but I'm going to cross my fingers and pretend that after deciding who will be a finalist they notify us in alphabetical order... If your last name is "sh" and mine is "th" I might be hearing from them next week ;)

Charlie I like your theory :) good luck!!!

Does anyone know how the award is taxed?

Yaaah !! I received my award notice on Friday. They take the taxes out so for example if you were supposed to received 60,000 they take taxes out and you will only received around 45. Something like that. I hope they will award everyone. we all work so hard and make so little. Good luck to everyone

still waiting... just curious, has anyone in Tier 2 received acceptance? I am in Tier 2 (One point shy of being in Tier 1) but my debt-to-income ratio is almost 200%... I'm slowly losing hope of being chosen for this program.

I am tier 1 and still haven't heard...
