Hello Everyone,I'm looking into pursuing a second Bachelor Degree in nursing. I'm so worried about getting further into debt with student loans. I was wondering if there are any hospitals in the Detroit or surrounding area that offer repayment of your tuition once you begin working as a nurse. Do any hospitals actually pay for your schooling in exchange for your employment? Or are there any other programs out there I could look into? I'm just trying to figure out a way to afford going back to school and paying loans once I graduate. I would greatly appreciate any info.
Thanks,
Heather
I dont know about repayment, but there are employers that will pay you a sign on bonus, depending on the term of commitment. You can pay your debt from that.
I work at a Detroit area hospital and they just recently came out with a new program that allows employees enrolled in nursing programs to be awarded scholarship funds in exchange for a 3-year employment commitment. The program is only available to current hospital employees.
For those enrolled in an ADN program the hospital will provide $8,000 worth of funds toward completion of this type of nursing program. For BSN or BSN completion, they award $14,000. For MSN, it is also $14,000. Again, this program is only for current employees who work at least 20 hours per pay period.
Are you able to work in a hospital in any capacity with your BS degree? PM me if you want to know which hospital this is.
