Any hiring freezes for new nurses in Southern California?

Specializes in ICU.

Hello everyone,

I am a new grad nurse (graduated May/2008) and I am working at a County hospital. I have mixed feelings about staying there pass six months. Does anyone knows if there is a hiring freeze in Southern California? I would hate to let go of my job at the county only to realize that hospitals (in Southern California) are not really hiring right now--especially with the economy.

Thanks!!!:wink2:

simple answer to that.

apply for a new job while you still have this one. when you get hired for the new one, work your notice at this one, and star the other after that.

My cousin works in la-usc and she said it's pretty crazy over there. people who usually come there don't have insurance and have multiple medical conditions. good luck.
