Any Full-Time Jobs in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN for New Grads?

Published

Hey guys,

So I've been scouring the websites of various hospitals in the Twin Cities, and it seems like all the jobs are either .8 or less. Is anyone aware of any currently externally posted full-time jobs?

Thanks!

.08 is pretty good. I started at 0.8 at the hospital I work at and after I got off orientation, I was free to pick up as many shifts as I wanted up to 1.0.

A lot of these available shifts are nights and weekends but that works for me.

Good luck!

Also, is it even POSSIBLE to get a job in postpartum/L&D/NICU as a new grad? I'm having trouble finding something that requires less than 2 years experience in either of those fields. :(

It's possible. Like winning the lottery is possible. I was lucky to get a job on a med surg floor as a new grad.

Yeah I know, pickers can't be choosers, but one can dream...

I don't think there is such a thing as a full-time floor nurse job unless you work in a clinic or some speciality of nursing. 0.8-0.9 is what most new grad start with and you can generally pick up shifts. They don't want you working 1.0 because you would definitely go over time because most nurses don't clock out on the dot or may need to stay a little later due to emergencies and whatnot. Plus 1.0 and overtime can cause burnout as a floor nurse. You get full benefits at a certain FTE, I'm not sure what but definitely at 0.8 +.
