I wondered if any of you out there has had any kind of experience working as a nurse in Europe? I always seem to find info on non-American nurses coming to work here but not the other way around. My husband is from Europe and the plan is for us to move back there as soon as I graduate. I would like to have some idea of what to expect so any kind of experience (or even second hand stories) would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!!
He wants to go to Latvia (where he is from) but I don't speak the language, and won't be able to learn it in less than three years (if you have EVER heard that language, its impossible!). . . . so barring any sudden English speaking opportunities, most likely we will land in Ireland.
ok yes that is not the most easy language to learn :uhoh21: ... I am afraid I can't help you then, I have no clue what the working conditions are in Latvia ... I think we have some Irsih here though .. I hope one of them can help you
good luck :kiss
Thanks again! I guess it will be an adventure!

You might check into Travel Nursing. I remember looking up jobs and that had them in english speaking countries. You will probably have to go through a little extra testing though. Heather
I was looking in Travel Nursing once before but all I seemed to find was temporary, returning to the US eventually type jobs but I wasn't looking that closely to be honest so I will go back and take a another, better look! Thank you all for your help!

*** I know several nurses who have / do work in Europe. They work in American military hospitals. Mostly in Germany but some other areas as well. Kind of the best of both worlds. Work as an American nurse in the kind of hospital you have been trained to work in, reciving American pay, working with english speaking co-workers and patients, all while living in Europe. Been a while since I saw any job openings but I don't pay close attention. Search a USAjobs.com.
