I received my associate's in nursing through Excelsior College after 10 yrs as a paramedic. I'm curious to find others who've gone the Excelsior route and are now in the anesthesia field. Did you find EC to be an obstacle in the interview process, or was it perceived as an asset? Please share your experiences... I'll be applying for schools next year, and would like to develop a battleplan. Thanks in advance, Bill

No issues here. ADN and BSN from Excelsior, but strong clinical experience, as well. Read my other advice on Excelsior --> CRNA on the next thread. :)
thanks nursekitten... just wanted to make sure there's at least one EC ADN grad out there! LOL

Hey Billy congrats on the new degree!
I'm in the same boat! What's your opinion/experience with excelsior in getting your asd? How long did the program take you? What should I expect? (Them giving me topics to study, and then taking online tests...and doing clinicals in my community?)
Was passing your nclex-rn hard? And how long after you finished your courses did you have to wait to take it?
I'm also striving to be a CRNA...and hoping that excelsior is possible for me to do.
How much did it cost?
Sorry so many questions!

I believe Excelsior looks for LPN licensure, first, if I am correct....?

That's really great and encouraging to hear about other excelsior grads that have gone on to be a CRNA. I just finished my ADN and am going to start working on my BSN through Excelsior. Thanks for posting.

It truly is considering this is the route I plan to go as well.
ADN & BSN through Excelsior & onto the pre-reqs & either Northeastern or B.U's Anesthesia program.
You go, aspiring CRNA's!!
