Any other Distance MN / Northland Community & Technical College Students?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi. I am new to this forum and will be starting Distance Minnesota / Northland Community & Technical College this Summer 2008. I am taking the Practical Nursing - AAS program. Just wondering if there are any other students here? Thanks.

Hi Erika,

I will be starting in the Fall, 2009 (three weeks) Are you doing Nursing Skills I for LPN? Where state are u coming from? I have also looked at Amtrak and other schedules.

It is so strange to read about the NCC program- I was a member of the first graduating class of 1977. I have been an RN for (gulp) 32 years! I entered that program when I was only 19, but was already an LPN. Things have changed so much- how much of the course can you take online? Thanks for the info!

hello everyone! i'm from cicero, il., a small town just outside of chicago and i'm wondering if i just "hit the jackpot" finding nctc of minnesota. i have taken all of my prerequisites through the city colleges of chicago and am wondering, would they transfer to nctc? also, would i be able to work in illinois having got my lpn license in minnesota? is it even possible for me to travel on amtrak (i've never been out of state -i know- i'm deprived)? any and all information would be grately appreciated. thank you much!

Lots of questions!

You should be able to work as an LPN in Illinois after going to school in MN. However, always check with your state board of nursing!

There is NO Amtrak service in TRF (Thief River Falls.) It is a rather isolated town. It is about an hour from Grand Forks ND, so you should be able get flights from Chicago.

What was the specific reason to choose LPN at NCTC? I am just wondering what they have that is uncommon.

I did two semesters thru the distance LPN program at Northland. It us a really good program

too. I too had completed a lot of prereqs at the City Colleges of Chicago and yes they transferred.

I didn't complete the program there because of the clinical structure change, I am however about to

graduate from the Wright College LPN Program in Chicago.
