I am having to make a decision between an ivy-league direct entry program and Seattle University. I have been able to speak with a current student from the other school, but would love some insight from someone who is currently attending or attended Seattle U's APNI program. Thanks in advance.

Hi JackieJones,
I actually was accepted to SU last year, but decided to go to University of Washington instead since it has a better reputation (they have been ranked #1 for the last 10 yrs or so). However, I learned this year is that reputation is not everything.
One of my friends is in the program now, and she loves it. She said the professors are teaching focus as compared to many Ivies and major research schools like UW. Is cost a factor? SU is expensive, but I cannot imagine it to be more expensive than an Ivy. Do you live in the Seattle area?
Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply. One of the main reasons why I am so heavily considering SU is because I have received a substantial scholarship. What I would take out in loans would be anywhere from $35-50 grand less than the other school. And from what I have heard, the name of where you earn your MSN does not matter as much in nursing. Is it possible to ask your friend some basic questions about SU's program? PM if you don't mind because I would love to get their input. THanks again for your response...I really appreciate it.

I am a Seattle University student currently enrolled in the APNI program. When I was thinking about applying/enrolling one to two years ago I could not find any information from people who were actually in the program.
My cohort put together a discussion group where we intend to answer questions from the incoming students behind us. However, it would also be a good starting place for prospective students who are interested in the student perspective.

Hi there. I know you posted this quite some time ago, but I'm wondering if you decided to attend SU and if so, how you're liking it? I'm also wondering how the scholarship came about. Did you apply for it or were you offered it when they offered you admission? I'm applying to several schools and am not looking forward to all the loans. Thanks!

what is the APNI program. may be a stupid question but i have never heard of it. what does it mean?
It's Seattle University's Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion Program. Basically a direct entry master's program that ends with some sort of NP certification. Check out http://www.seattleu.edu/nursing/msn/Default2.aspx?id=15288 for more info.
