Sorry I cannot provide any insight into this, but that sounds like a fascinating opportunity. Correctional nursing has always interested me, and I am also beginning to research NP programs. Do you know if you're going to take the job?

I am a full time psychiatric nurse practitioner in the prison system, but I have also worked in medical. Chronic care management in prison is a full time job as many inmates are physically older than their stated age, and are generally sicker than other populations. The formularies are usually restricted to generics, but this isn't too much of a problem. Treat the inmates appropriately and you won't have a problem.
If you are only expected to work 6 hours per week, I say go for it. It is a unique experience, and NPs are in high demand in corrections!
sapphire18 - no I really can't add another job to my plate - though I am curious
prison_nurse - thanks for the insight. The reason I was asked to interview was because several of my dialysis pts have ended up in the county lock-up (not DOC) and I have helped the prison MD come up with appropriate meds that the jail could get.
