Hello~
I originally applied in 2004 and was one of over 1000 applicants! I got real close on the waiting list but, it never panned out. I took some time off, had another baby and am now ready to go!
Just curious if there are still that insane amount of applicants at COD? Any advice? I have my BA and only have 3 more pre-reqs to take; Psych 237 Life Span, Nutrition and Micro. I've taken my CNA and was able to get a permit and take Nursing 100 in the summer of 04.
Any advice, insight or thoughts would be welcome! How hard is the HESI exam? Any prep that I can start doing now for Fall 08? Also, have they done any more pilot programs? I heard that they were starting some students in January?
Thanks!
I think you can post your COD questions here, but there are probably other places that talk about COD too. I am not sure who a good micro teacher is. I know there are not alot of them to choose from. I was just talking to someone about that tonight. I need to look at the list to remind me what teacher she recommended....

Hi,
I was in a similar situation, minus the kids.
I decided to look into post bacc nursing programs and eventually chose DePaul University's 22 month MS in Nursing entry program.
It is "very" intense and also "very" expensive. I know that Loyola and Rush have a post bacc BSN program. The do not seem as CRAZY competitive to get into like the associate programs. Good luck,

Carla14296 - Chemistry, biology and A&P are not on the HESI test. It's just vocab, grammer, basic math, and reading. Don't sweat the HESI test most of the people I know including myself thought it was a breeze. As for nutrition I can't remember who I had but she was a lousy teacher I wish I could remember her name. Nutrition isn't bad either you just have one huge project that is worth half your grade so what ever you do, do not fall behind on the project or else it could come back to bite you. If you have any other questions let me know. - jitters
Hi-I started my A&P I this week. It was bruttal! I didn't realize you already had to know chemistry and the pace is so fast, I don't know if I can keep up. I feel like such a jerk.
Don't give up!! You can do it. Yes, there is chemistry. Most of it is in Chapter 2 (I think), but you will come across it in other chapters too. Do your best to keep up with the readings and to not get too far behind. It is a really, really hard class and you have to work for everything you get in there. As long as you realize that, you'll be fine. :roll
Who do you have?
I had an awesome A&P teacher, Dr. Limato. He gave us chapter outlines which were his overheads. Our tests were off of the outlines. To be completely honest I only read the book when I had to get a vocab word or get a liitle more info on a subject. Anyways, I have all of my outlines. If any of you need help and need me to try and explain something or look something up for you please let me know! I got an A in both A&P's!
I'm not sure if he still teaches there but, I would HIGHLY recommend him.
I am taking Lifespan online right now. Never took an internet couse before! Have any of you?
Jitters-
So, are they having a January pilot program? I am assuming that you will have to reapply for Fall of 08? I called last week and they told me the admission packets will be ready in March. Have you taken Nursing 100? I was able to get the permit in the summer of 04 and took it. You seem to have gotten pretty close to acceptance! It is so frustrating, isn't it?!
Thanks for all of your advice and insight!
Carla

I heard that Slott is very good and a nice person. Rundell, I know nothing about. I took Bus math and we didn't learn anything about metric. Are you taking health math?
