Any CNA's in Pittsburgh? Advice...

Hello! I am anxious to get started in getting certified for nurses assistant.

There is a free program at Manor Care, where the certification last a few weeks and then you are contracted to work there for 6 months at $9.50 per hour. I was told I could make more by taking the test independently, and I have alot of the background from Medical assisting classes years ago, but I didn't graduate.

Any advice would really help me alot. Can I take the test without training anywhere? Any ideas where? Thank in advance I really appreciate it!!

Call around to different facilities. Some will pay you while you learn. I'm not sure if you can take the test without the classes. YOu might be able to but I wouldn't really recomend it. When I was in nursing school I worked as a CNA and they had just changed the LTC regs making it that everyone needed to be certified so I needed to take the test. I went to the Red Cross on the Blvd of the Allies. The test itself cost about $120 and some facilities will pay for it. Try posting this in the PA boards
