U.S.A. South Carolina

I am applying to start there next Spring '09. I am currently in Midlands, but I wouldn't be able to start until Spring '10. Just curious to see if any others were going to or are in Central Carolina Tech in Sumter.

Hi, just read your post. I'm still trying to figure out how to maneuver around the site :D. I attend Central Carolina; I will be starting my second year Aug 09, hopefully graduating May 2010. I currently am not attending any classes this summer; thank goodness for the break! This summer I'm filling my time working at Tuomey Hospital. Please let me know if you need any info; I'll be glad to fill you in.

I just applied for Central Carolina Tech's ADN Fall 2010 program in April and I have been told that I will get a letter sometime this week with the results. I took the Teas for the first time and got an 81.2 and I have a GPA of 3.29. I know I'm just being impatient but I was wondering if any of you out there have any thoughts on whether those scores are good enough to get accepted or do you think I will be reapplying next time? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the TEAS... I applied for Spring (jan) 2009 and got accepted. I didn't have to take the TEAS since I had SAT scores from back in high school. I had the bare minimum essentially for the SAT's to get in, but my grades were pretty good... like a 3.4 I think. They may have gotten stricter or maybe not... but I do know there are more applicants and it's getting tougher to get in. It's torture waiting for that letter, but I hope you get it!!!

Thanks for the info! It helps quite a bit. I think the TEAS bare minimum is 76 so I know I at least did ok getting an 81.2. I'm just hoping that a 3.29 is a high enough GPA to be in the running. I called the dept chair and found out they won't be sending the letters this week and to expect them in the second week of June. So I guess I have to calm down and wait for two more weeks! :(

Just thought I would post that I received my acceptance letter yesterday and I will be starting this August! I'm super excited and thought I would see if anyone else here has received their CCTC letters as well!

Congrats!!! I remember when I received my letter :) I was jumping up and down. Good luck with school... if you have any questions just ask.

I was hoping there are some current students out there at CCTC that could give me a little info. I saw a past posting in 2008 about the schedule types and was wondering if they are still the same general Mon-Thurs 8am-12pm class times. Also I read that we don't get to choose where we do clinicals but we can put in a preference. Can anyone tell me what there is to choose from and your opinions about them? I would appreciate any info I can get! Thanks for anyone's help! :) Happy Fourth of July weekend!

Hi :) I can only tell you what I experienced, and I know they've changed some things with the previous classes after i took them. In general for most class for the 1st 3 semesters, classes were generally from 815/830-1230. There were some days here and there that we had to stay pretty late, and those were usually for skills or checkoffs. For my OB/Peds rotation which was my 4th semester we stayed late... usually anywhere from 2pm-5pm. I'm in my last semester and finished class and our 1st 3/4 weeks were crammed with class and tests. There were days we stayed until 3 or 4pm. As far as picking clinicals, if they have the option of having a clinical site closer to you they do try to put you there if possible. Doesn't always happen though. It's happened for me. The clinical locations they usually have are Kershaw (camden), Tuomey (sumter), and Clarendon (manning area). Sometimes they don't have Kershaw available though, just depends :) For clinicals this last semester I had to go to Tuomey b/c Kershaw wasn't an option. But I am doing my preceptorship (following a nurse around in Kershaw). Anyway, I know that's a lot of info! If you have anymore questions, just ask!

Thanks a bunch for the info! Hopefully I will be doing clinicals in Sumter since that's where I live closest to. Do you know if the clinicals all take place at Tuomey or are there other places to do them in Sumter?
