Hello,
I was told that if you wanted to get a BSN and apply to a CSU school, then the better option is to go in as another major/undeclared instead of nursing. Once you are in, you can change/apply for the nursing school within that CSU.
How likely will one get into nursing school with this approach? Anyone experience this? Does one truly have a better chance of getting in with this approach?
TIA

Not sure if my small story will help. I had a friend that declared BSN as his major when he was at Cal-State Fullerton but was unable to get accepted into the program due to obvious reasons of the nursing shortage and impacted nursing schools. He had no choice but to declare and change his major which he did to health science instead. He eventually gave up on the BSN but I don't know at what point. He ended up finishing the health science degree and pursued something else later down the road.
It would baffle me as to way declaring undeclared would get you in faster. Acceptance is all about grades, background experience, TEAS/HESI scores, timing, what school, etc, etc. However, what I just mentioned is in regards to fresh/new prospective nursing students. If you already have an ADN or a BA in a different field, entrance into the BSN will be a bit different. I would imagine you would find your answer with your UC counselor.
