Just wondering if there were any students starting AACC's RN program in the fall? I am and was thinking this might be a cool place to communicate.
Hope everyone had a great summer. Just a few more days until we start!
I am going to apply for Anne Arundel's program for Fall 2010 and I am a Anne Arundel County resident. Do they usually have a waiting list or do most students get in the first time?
It depends on your GPA. They told us this summer at our initial orientation that our incoming class had the highest, lowest GPA accepted in quite a few years. Meaning, the lowest GPA they accepted was like a 3.5. They did mention that there were around 200 + applicants and they only have 72 spots, so it's very competitive. With that being said, if you have a strong GPA you should be fine. I got in on my first try, so it's definitely doable. If for some reason you get waitlisted for the fall, keep trying! I've also heard it's a little easier to get into during the spring admissions, only because fewer people apply.
The most important thing is to study your tail off for your prereqs and get really good grades and you'll have nothing to worry about. Good luck with the process. If you have any questions about the program, feel free to ask. I just started this fall, but I would be happy to answer any questions that i can for you.
Good luck!!
They do NOT have a waiting list. Admission is based upon GPA of the pre req's for the program. Go to an info session, and they will tell you exactly what those are and where the GPA cut off is running.
When I got in, they said it was about a 3.4. A friend of mine did not make the cut this semester, and she holds a 3.5 in her pre req's.

They do have a waitlist. I know several people who were on the waitlist this summer. A few ended up with spots this fall. Most didn't get in and will have to reapply for spring. That's what I was referring too. I didn't mean an indefinite waitlist, if that's what you thought.
