Any army civilian nurse in korea?

:bowingpurHello,

I graduated last year with ADN and have been working as critical car nurse for a year. My husband and I are looking to move to Korea so I've been looking for a job on usajobs.com. I saw the Army Medical Command has openings in Korea and would like to get some more information from you guys.

1. I am a little confused with the qualifications. I have ADN and a year of critical care experience. The grade is either GS 9-12 or YH 02. Can you tell me if I am qualified and what is the difference between GS and YH?

2. Does anyone know if there are many applicants applying for the position in Korea? Is it very competitive?

3. Do army civilian nurses get benefits such as LQA, COLA, and etc?

4. I am planning on pursuing higher education in nursing. Is there any way I can continue with my BSN or MSN in Korea?

I considered to join the military but my husband was against it because of the possible assignment location issue.

Thank you!

Don't know much about working in Korea, sorry.

I do know the military is better about joint spouse assignments than one might think. BUT, like always the needs of the military come first. Also remember with the deployments it is possible for one person to be deployed for 6* months, come home, and the other one goes for 6* months. (6 months varies)

AS far as cola and bah and the what not, it depends on if there is a need, how competitive, and if you were hired from the states or in country. For example if you are a spouse and are competing with many other spouses than there probably is no COLA, ect.

If they are desperate and have to hire from the states then you will get it all. SO to answer this means, no answer. :-)

I always say if you go overseas as a spouse to anywhere, plan on not working, consider yourself blessed if you are.

Are you going to Korea with your military spouse? Or...are you looking at going to Korea as a civilian completely unrelated to the military? This will determine much.

My husband served in AF for 5 years but not anymore so I won't have the spouse preference.

Thank you.
