I'm currently debating day and night if I should get an ADN or BSN. My goal is to one day join a military branch for nursing, all I know is that they accept nurses with experience and a BSN. I was thinking of doing my ADN first and then doing an RN to BSN program just because it is cheaper for an ADN where I live.
Not sure if i should go for the BSN right off the bat
Anyone have any thoughts?

The best advice I found on here about this and what helped me make my own decision was look up what jobs are available in your area. Do they even take any Associates? Will they help you get your bachelors if they require it after a certain amount of years or is there no job market at all for associates and only bachelors or vice versa... I read on here SO often that associates was a dying cause but in my area, there are PLENTY of jobs for an ASN degree, and many opportunities to get your bachelors while working. Hope this helps!

It would depend on the other factors weighing your decision. Is there a difference in how you would pay for your education (could you pay out of pocket for the ADN vs loans for the BSN)? Do you see yourself as someone who can be successful working while completing an RN to BSN program? Is there a significant difference in the time it will take you to complete each program (prerequisites and program length included)? All things bring equal, I'd say go straight for a BSN. But if there are other considerations, I'd say take the route that makes the most sense for you (most cost effective, shortest, ect), because you have opportunities to compete whatever other degrees you may need!

If your goal is to go straight to the military, then do BSN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the military pay off your debt from school?
Seems like a win-win.
