Kind of I am writing a paper on why i would like to be an advanced practice nurse and how they impact and change the field. I would like to incorporate the perspective of a current APN and their thoughts on current changes in the health care. Of course credit will be given where it is due

I'm a CNS and I was looking for more autonomy.

•What specialty/area do you work in and what lead you to choose this? I currently work in nephrology but am moving to heart failure

•What, if any, professional or career issues did you face early in your career as a ____? What helped you address them? No issues really. However, studying the Consensus Model is now a must

•What of the above issues have continued; how are you now handling them N/A

•What do you perceive are the key issues for (your practice role) today? Hmm...no issues whatsoever

•How do you see your role impacting patient outcomes, the nursing profession, and health care in general? Pts like to see me. I care for chronic pts so have a relationship with them.

•What do you see as the future role of the _____ in health care reform (examples)? You have to be politically active I order to effect change.

•To date, what do you perceive are your greatest accomplishments as a _______? When you provide education and the pt finally GETS it

•What are your goals in terms of professional development, contribution to nursing, contributions to health care reform? Hmmm...I'm on the downward slide of my nursing career so retirement is my only goal

Thank you for that advice. I am a newly licensed RN. I went through a bridge master program for those who already have a bachelors degree. I completed post-licensure courses in July, passed boards in early October, and am currently searching for employment. This fall I have started Master's courses, but find it difficult to complete assignments as I do not have job experience. This paper is to help us learn about the different career path and RN can take, and help us as student figure out the next step.
