How much came back out of the patient? If very little, and if you know you were in the muscle, it likely just hurt a tiny bit more going in.

Incidentally, this is the reason pre-filled syringes often come with a little bubble in them. Position the syringe so that the bubble will go in last, and the bubble will keep the med/vaccine in.

Did you pull back on the plunger ? If you got just air you're good, I bet you didn't lose much
