Hi guys this is my first post, as i read most of your guys postings it seems to familiar, well as soon as i started the program the quicker the end of nursing school as come, and I am so anxious. I thought i knew were I wanted to be in ICU but there are so many other choices it is so hard to choose what area i would like to be in.Any advice?

Try this personality test. It is really cool and may give you a little direction. It is 130 questions but it only takes a few minutes. It will ask you the same question multiple times and that is normal. Good luck!

I feel your pain. I am going to be a post-partum nurse but just recently I started thinking emergency room would be fun. So I am giving myself a year in post partum and then re-thinking. And then of course I've been reading Echo Heron books and thought about critical care. And then of course I loved my job in a highschool and thought of being a school nurse...etc etc :)

I say find what seems to fit where you are mentally after you get out. I wanted specific things out of my first nursing job--a set schedule without overnights, lots of patient teaching, and not a lot of trauma. I also wanted to learn in a non-chaotic environment (or at least not always chaotic) and I really don't like straight med-sug. so Postpartum it is! I am straight eves, and the hospital will pay for my bachelor's degree.

Make a list of what you want and then go speak to nurse recruiter where you want to work. They tend to ask you where do you want to work and I jsut said Post Partum

There are also programs out there that let the new grad spend a year rotating thru 3 or 4 different specilaties to find their niche. Its good because it shows you lots of different things that you get to choose, but not so good (i've heard) because you only just get used to the routine of the floor and you are rotated off. but its an idea.

Good luck. Having lots of choices is really a good thing, I promise! :)

I wanted to relocate to a place on the beach .... or close as a new graduate I was wondering if anyone knows of any place to go that also has some loan forgiveness???
