Anyone else experience worry about patients after you have been with them in clinicals? Since we spend two days with these patients and then leave, I find myself wondering what their outcome was and doubting myself. Did I miss anything? Did I forget to check something? Did I document everything? It is especially worse when you have a nurse that does not come in behind you to check anything or care to review the documentation for me, which has happened to me on more than one occasion. I am in my first year of nursing school so I am really just getting my feet wet in the hospital. Does anyone else know what I mean?:uhoh21:

yeah, I do. I still worry and I am in my last semester of school and graduate in two weeks. Everytime I program an IV pump or give a med, I check, check again, and recheck the settings or the meds I gave.
I was so paranoid about chart checks in my preceptorship, I checked the chart two or three times an hour!
I am going into ICU, so I guess this is a good attitude to have, but it is stressful.
I don't think the worrying ever stops.

How helpful is your clinical instructor? Mine, for this semester, has checked all of our charting and is great if we have questions; not intimidating at all. It's better to ask questions if you are unsure.
Now for me, hopefully next semester I luck out with an awesome instructor again.
The good thing, except for feelings of anxiety of course, is that you are conciencious and caring- I am sure you are doing great
Best of luck to you

My instructor once said, "I worry about those who DON'T worry."
You're fine...it's a normal feeling. I think we'd all be lying if we said we never worry once in a while.
