Anxiety over Air Force

I know this is going to sound stupid and what not but I just needed to vent a little bit before I am going to be able to sleep.

I have been thinking about joining the Air Force for a while now and now I am really committed to wanting to do it. I want to be somewhere where I belong and feel like I am helping people. I have never wanted to do anything more before this. I have briefly spoken to a recruiter about basics but since the semester is winding down I won't be able to talk with any recruiters in depth until the school year is done and my summer job starts rolling.

I just tend to be an anxious person especially over things I know I have no control over. Plus I am the type of person that likes to get things done and organized and figured out months in advance. It is a blessing and a curse. But having said that I just keep thinking about everything with the Air Force and I can't help but think that I am doing everything too late or that I am not going to be able to do it at all. Argh!! I know I really just need to take a deep breath and chill out but I can't. :uhoh3:

Hey there! don't think you are the only one and that you are going crazy. Going into the military is a life change! You should be nervous and jittery! I am too. I am pretty sure I'm going to be joining the army nurse corps and I am scared as :angryfire. How much did you talk to your healthcare recruiter? It's good to get all your questions out in the open and to find out as much info as you can. This site is really good for that. You will be okay! if it makes you feel any better, I just met with my recruiter yesterday, got the application, and am flying to San Antonio, TX for 2 days to visit an army base and hospital. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my deciding factor in joining because you get to see it and also talk to actual nurses that are living it. If you ever need someone to talk to about it, let me know because i know how you feel!!! I'm also on myspace and facebook. How far along are you in nursing school and when are you looking to join the AF?

You are on the right forum. Did you have any questions that may need to be answered to help relieve your anxiety?? Remember when you join the military, you are not signing your life away, but merely taking on another adventure. It is not forever, if you don't like it, after your tour is done you can get out. If you do like it, you will be glad you did it.

Don't feel bad.

Even though I grew up in a big military family. I still get anxious and jittery at times.

I am also a big planner and am very organized. When I have moved as an adult on my own

for college, etc. I have done lots of research about the city, etc. Now I have no clue

where I will be stationed, I have done some research on a few cities and have to depend on

people helping guide me with housing, etc once I get to that point. It recks the :lol2::lol2::lol2::bugeyes:

out of me. However, one thing my mother told me when I asked her what did she do throughout

there 22 years of military life is she said "Many others have went before you moved around, adjusted, hurry up and wait,

new PCS, deployments unexpectantly, etc. However, the military is the

king of moving people, planning and getting you ready!" She also reassured me that if you have

college experiences and a few more life experiences than someone who has joined straight after

high school graduation and there 18th birthday.

So, if that 18 year old with no life experience can get through it in one piece. You and I can too!

Ask questions, reseach to death like I do. (thank god for the internet!)
