this is about an antibiotic

Published

This question is about whether one of the antibiotics is appropriately

stored in the refrigerator or not. The package label says not to

refrigerate it (the name of the antibiotic is moxifloxacin). But the

facility stores it in the refrigerator. One professional source says that it is not to be stored in the refrigerator because it may crystallize. Another professional source says that it is okay to store if in the refrigerator.

Does anyone know of a current source that might better explain about

this antibiotic?

According to my drug book, should be stored between 59 + 86 degrees F. So I'd say no to refrigeration.

M

Storage/Stability

Store tablets at controlled room temperature (59° to 86°F). Avoid high humidity. Store ophthalmic solution in refrigerator (36° to 46°F) or at controlled room temperature (47° to 77°F). Keep container tightly closed. Store flexible injection bags at controlled room temperature (59° to 86°F). Do not refrigerate.

It's interesting that the opthalmic solution can be stored in the refrigerator. I have not been able to find a source yet that says

that it is okay to store the IV solution in the refrigerator.

If you worked in a facility where it is being stored in the refrigerator,

what would you do?
