I have 1 year of experience as an orthopedic surgical NP. I was thinking about going into one of the military branches and doing primary care any suggestions as to which branch or has anyone gone in as an already practicing ARNP? I am a 35 yo female.

I've heard the air force tends to have the best lifestyle of the branches. Tend to stay stateside. Im actually finishing up my ACNP this fall and was thinking of joining up. How did you get into ortho? I work in a trauma center and love the ortho side but there doesn't seem to be a big demand for np's in ortho, more pa's

As an Air Force spouse of 20 years, with experience at multiple duty stations, I would recommend Air Force. We have been stationed on Army posts for A great deal of the 20 years, but have also been stationed on Air Force bases oveseas, so we have some basis of comparison. By far, the Air Force quality of living and housing is much better than other services. Keep in mind that housing varies from base to base, as do Services and programs. If you would like specifics, private message me. Blessings on your education, and your choice of service.

Go USPHS, because you will make rank quicker as compared to the other services, thus make more money. (US Public Health Corps, which is like the navy for medical people). Specifically, work for immigration or BOP.
