I am a new nurse and looking to get some shoes that last 12 hours on the floor. My mom (a nurse) recommeded Alegrias. I tried them, even took them home to wear around the house. I love the Birkenstock type feel to them but the heels slip up and down even on the Mary Jane style. The same problem is happening with the Dansko clogs I have tried at the store. If I go a size smaller there is not enough toe room.
The only shoes that fit are adequate (but not fantastic) are my ugly Sketchers lace ups that are designed for professionals. I wore them for clinicals. My running shoes also don't provide enough support for 12 hour shifts.
Any suggestions??

I have spent as much as $200 for nike max air custom made for me...in the end, I tried Sketchers shape ups...as ugly as they are...for me they are the most comfortable and my back thanks me at the end of the day....it's a personal preference- try on various shoes till you find one you really like :)
good luck!

I also have narrow feet, and have found www.shoebuy.com the best site for narrow shoes. I have worn standing comfort shoes www.standingcomfort.com which are actually made by Drew that fit comfortably and are not too wide. (They are also sold on shoebuy.com) Dansko professional white clog comes in narrow, I tried them, but since I have flat feet, they didn't work out for me. Good luck, its not easy finding narrow shoes!

You might try Sanitas. They are the company that used to make Danskos so they will fit similarly, but tend to run more narrow even in the regular width. I ended up getting some Nike cheerleading shoes for school because I didn't want to drop big $ quite yet and they're pretty darn good for $62. If you can wear brown or black shoes, try B.O.C. Peggys. B.O.C. is a subcompany of Born so you know they're good quality, and will feel like heaven on your feet. They don't come in white, though, which is what most students have to wear for some reason.
Hope that helps!

Depending on what size narrow feet you have, some of the nike shox do decently. I did have to move to childrens sizing to get them to fit me. Kswiss has decent arch support and stability, and they come in a blinding white style. Currently I'm in a pair of skinny-as-heck puma's which sit flat on the ground, yet have good arch support. It sounds odd but feels pretty good. The downside is the lack of a very flat base, but it reminds me more of walking barefoot or in jazz boots. I switch them out with my kswiss when working more than two nights in a row.

Clogs like Danskos and Sanitas are SUPPOSED to slide up and down on your heel as you walk. It takes a little getting used to, but that's how they work.
Sanitas are not only narrower than Danskos, but they also come in a narrow width with their Professional Clog. I have a narrow-to-medium foot, and the narrows are actually tight on me. You might want to check them out.
Sauconys and Asics are great, and you can find the Sauconys in all white. Keen also makes a nice professional clog in white.

I wear a 8 length and a AAAA width. My heel is actually more like a AAAAA width. I have a horrible time finding shoes of any kind for any occasion, but I recently bought some clogs from Keen. I carried them to work and put them on there a couple of nights and tried them out. I have decided to keep them. And they do slip up and down on my heel slightly, but I can live with that. I figured that is the way they should do. The left shoe is tighter than the right because of the difference in my feet. Hope this helps.
