Another "Grades" thread

Published

Ok, I am really worried now. I am wondering if I have shot my chances at CRNA school. I got my grades today and made "A's" in Nutrition I and Pharmacology I. Got a stupid "B" in Nursing I and missed an "A" by 1 lousy point. The "B" really concerns me now. How many of these things can you get and still be a good candidate for a CRNA program?? I am sure IF I ever get an interview an excuse of "I only missed an "A" by 1 point",will not fly. Any opinions out there?:o

you dont need all A's to get in, but your ambition to get straight A's from here on out is a good goal...dont be so hard on yourself, quit dwelling and get back to work

Don't stress. I had a 3.6 in nursing and that means I got a few B's. I even got a B- in med/surg. Funny that I got that grade in that class but got an A in ICU. Getting B's in some nursing classes won't ruin your chances. As long as you did well in your science classes and also that you did well in Pharm you should be fine. Not everything is based on grades and I think that can't be stressed enough. Working hard when you graduate and doing well in the ICU weighs a lot on your acceptance. Being involved in your professional organizations, getting good references, and really finding out what anesthesia is about will help you in the long run. Anyone can get good grades, but going the extra mile and learning what CRNA school is really about will help you more IMO. I was not a 4.0 student and I got into CRNA school my first year out of school and my first year applying. I know your stress and it weighed on me everyday until I was accepted. All I can say is keep working hard and do well in the ICU. If this is what you want I'm sure you will do it. Best of luck.

Don't worry about it. I got a B or two in nursing school. I even got a C in Nursing Research (instructor hated me). Grades aren't everything when applying.

Thanks for the support guys, I really appreciate it. I just didnt want to end up with a "B" right out of the gate with the rest of this ADN program and BSN to follow. "B's" early on just worry me. I never really was a grade freak, before all of this, a "C" was passing and that was fine but now I am a little more mature and have higher goals for myself and a "C" is just like getting an "F" to me.

Another reason I worry is that in the past I didnt really try at all and made some pretty lousy grades. I know I really have to make up for that now, and make an outstanding impression and show these people that I am able to do the work and commit myself to something and see it through.

Again, thanks for all the support.:)
