Another Nursing Facility Closes

A nursing home— another one— on the South Coast of Massachusetts is closing. It’s an old captain’s house. The company can’t afford to bring it up to code. So instead of grandfathering them in again, they have to close. So sad

The company I work for announced they were selling to a for profit company. It’s a scary business we’re working in.

My previous place of work is in the process of closing down.

The building was irreparably damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes and the powers that be finally decided it wasnt worth it to keep repairing the building.

Technically it was supposed to remain open until end of October, but we were down to 1 rest home and approx 9 independent residents when I finished up last week

I may or may not have worked at that beautiful home and It's very sad. It would have cost a ridiculous amount of money for them to fix and we were already in the red.

There wasn't a dry eye in that place until the last patient left.
