Ok. I found out what I am getting for my pell and state aid, etc. I also found out how much I am going to have to fork over for childcare and I don't have enough. If I get a student loan on top of the grants, will they lower the amount of my pell and state aid?
Ya know, I get so sick and tired of people putting me down because I basically go to school for free. They say "Man I should have a kid so I can get free education". Well you know what? That money that could be going towards education goes toward raising my son on my own... Someone always has something to complain about, but I will take my grant money and better myself so my son can see that hard work pays off in the end.
Dont feel bad at all. I dont get any financial aide, and most of my loans ive take out are not even subsidized. I actually dont even have enough loans to cover my books. My husband makes too much money, **that would be my cheating husband**(I just caught him a couple weeks ago, after 17 years of marriage and 2 kids!!).... I am going to school at 37 to finally finish my RN, which I started 18 years ago!!!! Now when I'm done with school I will be stuck with tons of student loans to start my new life off. So I repeat do not feel bad, I envy the fact that you dont have to pay for school, but I dont envy the fact that you have to raise a son on your own while you finish school. I'm even just staying with mine until I finish school because its easier all around. Everybody has challenges, they are just quite different.. Good luck!!!
oh hey and by the way did any of you price the books!!! I looked at the online bookstore and if its correct they are over 1000 for the first semester!!.. Im going to go out to the school this week and write all the isbn numbers down and see if I can find them cheaper online. They wouldnt give me the Isbn on the phone they said I have to come in...

Its going to cost me over $700 to buy all mine and I am not even in the ASN program yet! I am going on craigslist a lot to find used books people are selling. I already found one person with ANP books for sale! I am going to get the ISBNs tomorrow probably but man they are expensive...and they don't even tell you what is definitely required and what is optional.
mine are over $800 if I buy all new, and I'm only taking NRSG 100, 101, and 106. But, I'm also taking Micro and CINS 101 to beef up my status to full time.Amazingly the most expensive book is the Micro textbook. 199.25 new!!!! then I also need the SG on top of that!
WTH!?!!!
Mine is over $890 if I buy new....its crazy!!!!

Financial aid finally got posted today after calling two days in a row and last week. I didn't even get an email telling me to accept....I surfed the sight and found unsatisfied requirements. When I clicked on it, it was accepting the award. I did price books for Terre Haute campus...they were just a little over $700. according to online bookstore. When I went into the book store last week, I think they were a bit higher though.
I STILL have no financial aid for fall posted. I did have something good happen, though. I got into a section of ANP 101 @ Lawrence that someone must have dropped out of, in the evening, so now I don't have to take it @ Columbus. I got all the books today, all of them but one through Amazon and saved a TON of money that way--the brand new books on Amazon were cheaper than the used copies @ the online school bookstore. I got all of the books plus an extra study guide for $300, saved me probably $200 bucks!! Anyone have Baumgartner before?
