Another 75 Cutoff!

Published

 Yes, it happened to me too! The computer shut off at 75! I took the test yesterday (Tuesday) and I am still waiting for the results. I am somewhat freaked because the questions were so hard, I really didn't feel for sure on the answers on any of them! But then again, maybe the questions just seemed hard because I didn't know them? I don't know, most of them were priority, pharm, or psych. Actually at least 10 End stage renal disease. What was that about? Why so many? No OB, no ambulation, no diabetes, nothing like that. A few cardiac, but also a lot of growth and development. Also no computations. I'm hoping from what I've read on this board is that because the questions seemed hard, that I was in upper level questions.I don't know, all the questions seemed hard, it didn't seem to start with a easy one and build to harder ones. That has me concerned. I did really prepare this, using Kaplan, Lipincott, and Saunders. I've spent at least 4-5 hrs every day since graduation Dec. 19th studying. I would score in the upper 70's in the pretests. I just hope it pays off!

I will say when the computer shut off at 75 I went into shock/denial. I felt pretty prepared, so thought that might happen, but when I got to the questions, and they were so hard, I didn't have any confidence I was answering them correctly. Out of all of them, there were only 2 I was sure of the answer. So when that #75 was finished and I pushed the "next" button, I was so shocked to see that blue screen and then "test completed". Now I am so scared that I answered all those questions wrong and I will get a big "not passed" when I finally can get on the result page.

Are there any kind words of reassurance out there to help me through the stressful tense time? I'm afraid my husband is very tired of my crankiness, (although he really is very good and supportive), but this is so difficult! I have my dream job contingent on this and hope so much I pass! I don't want to think that I really don't know this at all. After all my hard work and struggles that would be so discouraging.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Anna

I too took my boards on Tuesday. I found out this morning (wed) by checking my board of nursing website. In MN they have your application status that you can check and along with that the progress of your exam status too. I didn't have to call NCLEX.

I also had a lot of ESRD questions, and also about 10 cranial nerve questions. I'm thinking if they seemed hard they probably were hard questions. I know it's been told to me that everyone leaves the exam feeling as though they failed.

You only have to wait a few more hours and then you'll know. You sound very prepared so hopefully that helped you out!! Good luck and try and relax.. (I know I didn't, I was checking almost every couple hours to see if my results were posted!!)

Emily

Oh, you are so lucky to find out so quickly! This is torture! I check the site every hour or so. I'm driving myself and everyone crazy. They told us to allow 2 working days, but some have been posted within 24 hrs, so I keep trying.

But congratuations! Hopefully I'll get the same good news!

Ann

Anna,

your test sounds exactly like mine. I took it today. SO stressful to wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took mine on Saturday...No results yet...they said at least 3 days....

The waiting is absolute torture!!....I thought my test was hard too...there always seemed to be 2 right answers....hopefully I picked the more correct one...I am kind of driving myself crazy too because I looked up a couple of my answers and some were wrong....some were right.....

I shut off at 75 .....tons of prioritization....lots of OB, Psych, Growth and Development, and ESRD....some nutrition ....AAAAHHH!!

The waiting is the absolute hardest part!!

I was an "A" student in school but I felt like I didnt do very well....I dont know:eek:

Anyways Good Luck to everyone....I hope you all pass!! My dream job is waiting for me on Monday...if I pass

Hi all, I'm new to this board and this is my first post. I took the exam on Monday. Like you all have mentioned I also only had 75 questions, had a ton of ESRD and development questions. I was so unsure of almost every answer that I put down but for most I was able to narrow down to 2 choices (not that it helped my confidence level at all!). Well as I was approaching #75 I said to myself "If the exam shuts off at 75 there is no way in h*** that i passed". So right after question #75 I got the blue screen. My heart sunk and I just knew I had failed. I got home and I was very upset, called my mother and told her to prepare b/c I had failed, etc. For the next two days I moped around my house wondering what I was going to do with myself.

Well I was hesitant to check the results after the 2 days, but finally yesterday after putting off the inevitable I checked and...I PASSED!!!! I can't tell you how excited I was/am. So I just wanted to say to everyone else on here waiting, I guess having 75 questions doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing, keep the faith and hopefully you all did just fine. Good Luck to all of you!!!!!:)

:) :) :) Hurray! I did pass! It was so like Lily just said. I've been on such pins and needles and checked for the zillionth time this morning at 7:30 and there it was. Too cool for words! I am still dancing and laughing and singing! It is pretty silly for so much to ride on one stupid test. But at least now I am past this point! Now on to obsess about learning my new work! (A Step down unit from ICU)! As my husband says, I always have to have something to stress over. Actually this entire weekend is going to be so happy and light hearted. What a huge load off! It is incredible!

Thanks all for your support and good luck to all in the future!

Anna
