Another Acceptance, I don't know what to do?

Published

I got pick from the waitlist and I got my acceptance letter from Clayton State University yesterday.:roll I am so excited however I kind of caught in dilemmia on my choices.:uhoh21:

I am also accepted in North Georgia College and State for a ASN however Clayton State is a BSN program. They both are two years to complete. with NGCSU I would only have to go to school to two to three days and week whereas Clayton it is everyday. I currently have 62 credit hours so I am trying to figure out which will be best for me being though I have a 2 and 4 year old. Are they both going to equally consuming programs. Clayton is 17 miles from me and NGSCU is 54 miles and some of NGCSU clinicals sites are 74 miles. What would you do in my situation? Has anyone been my situation what did you choose and why? Is it better to get the BSN over ASN if given the opportunity?

I will definitely pick out Clayton State University. 27 miles away fro where you live...clinical sites i believe are within the area...Southern Regional, henry, fayette hospital, etc. You already have the 62 credit hours...put them to use. What is 2 more days...at least you will be near your two little ones. You will also come out with a Bachelors. How cool is that!!!:)

Anyway, how i wish i am in a position to choose between 2 schools. i am currently on the waiting list for fall 2006 at Gordon. i applied for readmission at clayton state for fall 2006 to take 4 more core classes and will try to get in the nursing program for 2007.....if i do not get in at Gordon for 2006. i hope i was able to shed some light on your dilemmma and i am sure you will make the right decision. Congratulations on al your acceptance, good luck and God bless.:saint:

MM93,

Thanks for the advice! I hope you get called off of the waiting list at Gordon. It can happen because it happened to me when I was called from Clayton's waiting list. If not because you only 4 core classes away from applying for a Bachelor maybe Clayton is where you are suppose to be. If so if you have any questions about my first semester I be happy to help in the event I decide to go to Clayton. I still trying to make my choice. I wish I had more feed back:uhoh21:

Personally, I think you should go for the ASN. I had the same situation (BSN and ASN acceptances), but opted to go the ASN route - simply due the 'cost' of the BSN. Not financial cost, but the 'cost' of having to go to school five days per week, with young children at home. I am glad I made the decision that I did - I don't regret it, in the least. I am a NGCSU student, and I really like my program, so I guess I'm a little biased. First year at NGCSU, you have classes one day per week, and clinical a second day per week. That left me plenty of time to not only study, but to also spend a great deal of time with my children.

I'm sure many will disagree with me, but for me - it was definitely the right choice to make. Good luck - whatever you decide.

Ditto. I'm voting for Clayton - I can't say I'm a parent now, but I'd rather be closer than 50-some miles away from them if something happened, God forbid. And even if the ADN program is cheaper (if cost was an issue for the BSN), the gas mileage is three times as much, not to mention the clinical sites are 70-some miles away, so it probably wouldn't be in the end! Not to mention I couldn't imagine doing a clinical and having to drive 80 miles home, tired, in Atlanta traffic...a near 160-mile round trip...ouch!!

'Course, I really had no choice in the matter for myself, as I was kinda forced to get a BSN as I want to get an MSN later...and my attention span is a tad too short to stay in school for any longer than 6 years, 4 of those being straight-through years...:lol2:

Good luck, whatever you do!

Congratulations on your two acceptances!! I vote for Clayton. I know it is more days per week, but it is so much closer to home. What if you need to go to school for something other than classes...what a pain to have to drive an hour. Plus, you have so many hours already, why not go for the BSN? I was exactly where you were a couple of years ago, and I'm getting ready to start my nursing program in the fall for my BSN at Kennesaw. I would just want to be closer to home, if it were me, plus I really want that BSN!! I've worked too hard and too long to stop now!:) Good luck in your decision.

Clayton State. Though you may have classes more days per week, you may only have one class each day which will allow you to have more time each day with your family, more time each day to study, and you're much closer to home. Plus, it takes the same amount of time (about 2 years) to get a BSN as it does an ASN/ADN, why not go ahead and get the higher degree now?

I graduated from there, and though the school has its issues, if you go there with the mind set that you are there with a purpose (to get your BSN and move on with life), I think you'll be just fine.
